Saving Money When Buying Pregnancy Clothes
Now that you are pregnant there are so many reasons to save your money. Your new baby will need all kinds of things, especially if you are a first time parent. But, with pregnancy you are faced with the need to purchase a new wardrobe of pregnancy clothes. If you are not careful this can quickly add up and leave you with less money to spend on the things that would best benefit your baby once it has arrived.
One thing to consider when buying pregnancy clothes is that you don't really need a lot of clothing. Since you will only be wearing these clothes for a few months there is no point in getting tons and tons of stuff. Instead focus on a few essential items to fill out your wardrobe. For example, a good pair of maternity jeans is a highly useful and flexible article of clothing. With a stretch material front or upper layer, these jeans can be used with a fancy blouse to be semi-formal or with a simple sweater or T-shirt for lounging around the house.
Mix and match your outfits by choosing items that are compatible with one another so you can just grab any pair of pants, top and possibly a sweater and you are ready to go. You will need far less articles of clothing if you select things that will go well no matter what you mix it with from your wardrobe.
Any good selection of pregnancy clothes needs some muck-abouts that you can wear around the house when you have no special occasions to worry about. Plus sized jogging pants are excellent for this purpose as are extra-large or men's sized tops. You can find these very inexpensively and they can be the most comfortable things to wear when you just don't feel like doing much of anything.
To find inexpensive clothes don't be afraid to look around in some unusual places. Thrift shops are excellent sources of pregnancy clothes, which generally barely show signs of wear since they are only used for a few months. If you have friends or family who have had babies recently ask them if they have any clothes to offer you. Garage sales are another great place to look for nice maternity clothes. You can also find high quality items for sale on Ebay.
It never hurts to have one or two items that are brand-name and that make you feel special, but try not to go overboard. Maternity clothes have a short shelf life since you are not likely to want to wear them much after your baby has arrived. Very few clothes suited to pregnancy are suited to every-day wear. High price tags really hurt when four or five months later you put the clothes away and never pick them up again. Selecting pregnancy clothes that fit a low budget makes sense no matter which way you look at it.
